LIFE LESSONS FROM KYNG DAVID

PHOTOGRAPHY BY RAPID FOTOS

I had a portrait photography session with Mr. Kyng David the photographer behind rapid photos and Just before the session we had chit-chat about life generally and he had so much tips ,expierences and life lessons to share that I begged him to let me put it in a blogpost.
In today’s version of Life Lessons, I’ll be sharing lessons as shared by Mr. Kyng David, I asked him most of my questions in interview style but decided not to write this post in interview style as that will be rather generic.

1.
IT IS OK TO BE DIFFERENT.
Growing up, Mr Kyng said he was a not your average boy child, he never seemed to understand the idea behind play games and sports with other boys only to come home with injury, cry about it get one or two persons tell him sorry only to do the same thing the next day and every other day after that.
He further said he was teased by his elder brothers for being different and not conforming to what is expected of a male child. You are probably wondering what did he do instead, He created things with his hands, made his own toys and generally did creative things at a young age.
Its ok to be different, people might not understand you right now but soon enough everything will fall in place and you will be celebrated for your “difference”

2.
WHAT EVER YOUR HANDS FIND, DO IT .
At a young age, Mr. Kyng began to play with anything and everything that came his way. He was a curious and creative young lad and never took no for an answer. He was a Dj for a while in calabar, he started blogging and wrote alot of peoms and refelcetive writing which also brought him further deals like selling blogs and designing blogs
In his moments of finding things to do, he taught himself photography, lighting and editing.
As young adults we tend to wait for a proper 9-5 and the question is in that short/long time you are applying and waiting for a miracle from heaven, “what are you doing with your time?” “what are you doing with your hands?” “ what are you doing with your skills”

3.
NO SKILL IS EVER USELESS
Mr. Kyng adds a little bit more that what other photographers offer in his industry i.e along with the photography package you paid for.He creates and designs a blog where he displays all the pictures he has taken and you as the client can easily share the link to friends and family.
This special offer by Mr. Kyng makes his work stand out from other photographers and to think it was a skill he picked up from trying out many things.
As a unique individual, don’t think any skill is useless or it for some reason doesn’t match your standard or social class. You may need it one day in the weirdest situation possible.

4.
LEARN TO TAKE UP A CHALLENGE
One time Mr. Kyng showed interest in photography and told his younger brother who is a photographer about his new love for photography and how he wanted his brother to teach him, his brother laughed it off saying he( Kyng) couldn’t do it even if he taught him and Mr. Kyng saw that as a challenge.
Taking up the challenge Mr. Kyng bought his first camera and started taking pictures by day editing by night not forgetting tutorials he watched on youtube and in now time he developed what worked for him.
When you are faced with a challenge do not blackout, take up the challenge, learn all you can and develop a tactic that works for you.

5.
CURIOSITY BRINGS PERFECTION
I know they say curiosity killed the cat but lets look at this from a positive angle shall we. When Mr. Kyng started taking pictures by the day and editing by night he became curious as to how pictures were taken.
He would take a picture study it, analyze it research and ask questions.
Constantly keeping a curious mind not only helped him learn alot but also be an expert in his field.
Curiosity only kills a cat if his intentions are not pure.

Here are a few quotes that are worthy of mention by Mr. Kyng David.
1.     Hunger is a gift to man. It makes a man thirst for a better life and he achieves it.
2.     Difficulty in life makes you creative.
3.     Find a loop hole in your industry/field and fill it.
4.     Less is more. The less you see, the more you want to see.
5.     Find a mentor and learn all you can from him/her.
